Ms. Geeta Malhotra, READ India Country Director
Geeta has been working with READ India since June 2008 and has helped bring 16 READ Centers (Community Library and Resource Centers) to life in 8 states of this expansive country. Geeta constantly performs networking for partnerships and fund raising apart from outreach activities to bring the best training and capacity-building programs to READ Centers while overseeing all operations in India. Geeta uses her strong experience, professional and academic connections to create new opportunities for READ India. Since 1981, she has been actively working in the social sector to implement grassroots programs across India. This includes work for One World South Asia, Open Knowledge Network, Digital Empowerment Foundation and Population Foundation of India. Geeta holds multiple degrees from Delhi University, Annamalai University and IIPS, Mumbai Deemed University. She has submitted her thesis on Elected Women's Roles in Reproductive and Child Health.
Ms. Smita Anand Rai, Director of Partnerships and Resource Mobilization
Smita joined READ India in June 2007. She is responsible for developing and nurturing partnerships and acts as an ambassador for READ India programmes to its external partners. Prior to this role she was managing programmes and operations at READ India. Prior to joining READ, she worked with PlaNet Finance India, an affiliate international micro-financing institution working in the field of Technical Assistance and Capacity Building. Previously, she worked at HSBC Retail banking as a customer relationship officer. She holds a post graduate diploma in International Business.
Mr. Nahid Barbhuiya, Manager - Community Partnerships
Nahid joined READ India in February 2008 and is currently working as our Manager-Community Partnerships. Since then, he has been working with rural communities advocating the READ model and finding suitable community partnerships. He is responsible for construction/renovation projects and the setting up of READ center sections such as the library, computers, multi-media, children’s learning center, women’s section and livelihood programmes for women and adolescent girls. He is also responsible for training the local communities on Library Science Management, selecting the Center Management Committee and training them on their important role in community participation, and managing READ programmes. To date, he has successfully built 16 Centers and has recently been responsible for providing alternative energy to the READ Centers along with deployment of Information Communication Technology tools. He is also responsible for advocating the ICT programmes and bringing in suitable ICT partners for the benefits of the Community in rural India. He holds both a BSc and MMC (Master of Mass communication) from Assam University, Silchar
Mr. Kamlesh Kumar Jha , Program Officer
Kamlesh joined READ India in early 2014 as Program Coordinator, with extensive experience in sustainability and information communications technologies (ICTs). He began his career in 1999 in IT Support with KCD Corp. in Kolkata. For a year and a half he served as an IT Executive in East Timor for the UNDP. In mid of 2006 he joined the Drishtee Foundation as a Division Manager accountable for supply chain management, rural education, and micro-finance projects. Kamlesh also worked as a Project Manager with Neurosynaptic, and with Teleradtech Pvt. Ltd on a telemedicine project.
Mr. Mahipal Singh Rawat, Production and Training Coordinator, Multimedia
Mahipal has been working in the field of Information and Communication Technologies since 1995. His focus has been on using film, television, radio and the internet for the sustainable development of rural and urban communities through education, livelihoods and human rights. Mahipal develops audio-visual tools for community awareness for READ, and provides training to marginalized communities using ICT tools. He holds a Masters in Rural Development and professional postgraduate diplomas in Multimedia.
Mr. Shivam Sharma, Programme Coordinator (M&E) (Sustaining Enterprises)
Shivam has attained a Masters Degree in Development Studies from Amity University. He joined READ in 2014. He previously held an internship with the National Human Rights Commission and is commended with a certificate of exemplary contribution by the commission among top 50 interns of the country. He is currently looking after the monitoring and evaluation of the programmes in READ India centers. He is engaged in providing active help and support in managing and upbringing sustaining enterprises within the centers.
Mr. Adil Karan Kumar, Programme Coordinator
Mr. Adil Karan Kumar has attained a Masters Degree in Development Studies from Amity University. He joined READ in 2015. He has in-depth knowledge about geography and geology. He has very good communication skills.
Mr. Dileep Kumar Jha, Finance Assistant
Dileep joined READ India in 2014 as Admin and Finance Assistant. He is responsible for day to day accounting, maintaining accounts in Tally/ Quick Books, maintaining financial records, managing petty cash and supporting the financial audit for the READ India office. Prior to joining READ, Dileep worked with 2 Charted Accounting firms as accounts assistant. Dileep has a degree in B. Com honours from Delhi University ( Correspondence). He is also pursuing M.Com degree though distance education.
Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, Office Assistant
Sanjeev Kumar has been working with READ India as an Office Assistant since July 2012. He has been responsible for providing support to office activities at the READ Office and sometimes at the READ Centers. Previously he worked with the Digital Empowerment Foundation and North-East Development Foundation and has more than 8 years of experience in management of day-to-day office operations.
