As a new READ Center launches in Bhutan, adding to the 2.1 million total rural villagers served by our centers, you may be thinking – that sounds great, but just how sustainable are these centers? Will they stand as long term establishments in their communities, or is this just another organization's well-intentioned, but misguided, attempt at global development?

In all three countries that READ Global works in, peacebuilding has footprints in many forms – such as a vibrant vision for Peace, Prosperity, and Happiness in Bhutan, enacting a comprehensive peace agreement ending internal conflict in Nepal, or transformation to becoming a leader in peacebuilding in India.

With International Literacy Day coming and going earlier this week (be sure to check out our inspiring Profiles of Empowerment if you haven't already), we’re so proud of our READ Centers’ celebratory activities and the impact they made in their communities.
